I won’t forget that I loved the old Super Junior, so it’s nice to hear their old material again back in their ‘Sorry Sorry’ days. I especially like to hear from the most talented members in the vocal department, Super Junior KRY. SM knew what they were doing putting Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung in Super Junior. Thankfully, they knew what they were doing again and left KRY to sing this song.
Anything KRY sings is incredibly pretty. Kyuhyun with his deeper and warm voice that he controls well; Ryeowook with his higher pitched voice that has its own flavour and balances Kyuhyun’s voice; and Yesung who ties them all together with his voice with power that he never overworks. The song is sad? Yes, and they present it that way. Is it full of emotion? Yes, thanks to them, even if you can’t understand what they’re saying, you’re still moved. Kyuhyun is a brat, but when he opens his mouth to sing a song like this, you forgive him for those 3 minutes and 33 seconds. KRY is still one of my top ballad groups and with solo songs like this sprinkled in their albums, I wonder why SM hasn’t given them another album of their own.

I don’t post much k-indie because it doesn’t get requested often, but I actually do like k-indie a lot. It’s a really smooth and pretty genre, and Daybreak is no exception.
They don’t have a lot of attention with about 150,000 views on the music video and around 8,000-9,000 views on their acoustic video I’ll put up. I don’t really get it because this song is really enjoyable and they’re talented singers/players. They’re a nice coffee shop vibe break from all the electric and artificialness of pop. A breath of fresh air. The video is pretty and simple, which matches the song well. I didn’t even notice that they were reversing until like three quarters into the video. How smart. The lights on the floor are really pretty, I’ve always loved that kind of decorating.
The lyrics are so cute and match the video well. The song is about a guy getting the guts to confess to a girl over the phone, but decides to do it over a text, and apologises for the dull confession. In the video, he goes over it over and over again, but at the end of the video you see he sent the song in the text message as his confession, so it really wasn’t that boring haha. Overall, I really liked it and hopefully more people discover them!

Today’s the day before spring break’s over, so I crammed in a couple more movies before I went back to school!

Love Me Not is a 2006 drama romance that is a remake of a 2002 Japanese drama, Forget Love, and has been remade into a current Korean drama, That Winter, The Wind Blows. After watching this movie, I’m interested how they follow the plot, whether they’ll use the drama or the movie or pieces of both. Don’t watch Love Me Not unless you don’t care about ruining the ending for That Winter, The Wind Blows or you don’t plan on watching it. Julian is a playboy who needs to get 2.87 million dollars in a month so he isn’t killed— so he pretends to be the brother of a blind heiress planning to kill her, but falls in love instead. It was a good movie, I really liked the casting, but the side character, Julian’s friend (and his friend’s girlfriend), didn’t really have a concrete plot line so he was really annoying. I watched it at dramacrazy :)

The Relation of Face, Mind, and Love is the first of SBS’ Telecinema7 series. It’s bascially the Korean version of Shallow Hal— after a minor car accident, Tae Pung’s vision is impaired so he see beautiful women as ugly and ugly women as beautiful. He meets So Jung, who’s only flaws are her teeth, thick eyebrows, and freckles, and they fall in love. After his vision is normal, he doesn’t recognise her. Besides the fact that 3/4 of this didn’t even make any sense, I didn’t like that not only was Tae Pung shallow in the beginning, about halfway through we find out So Jung is shallow too! Kind of slow, a lot of it doesn’t even make sense… I guess I liked the casting? I watched it on dramafever :)

The Way Home is a 2002 drama about a city boy forced to live with his rural grandma, adjusting to her way of life, and returning to the city realising the importance of family. Yoo Seung Ho is the main actor and he’s a little boy awwwww he was so cute I didn’t even recognise him >< It was a touching movie, and usually these kinds of themes and stories I’m not into, but it was really sweet. I watched it at dramacrazy :)

The series centers on Goo Jae Hee, a Korean girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes attracted to one of the high jump competitors, Kang Tae Joon. She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Korea to attend the same school that Tae Joon attends after he suffers an accident that could potentially end his career. There is a catch, however: Tae Joon attends an all-boys high school and Jae Hee must disguise herself as a boy to enter.

I’m so excited Infinite came back! When I first saw the teasers, I almost thought it’d be another ‘Nothing’s Over’, but I was so wrong. It’s still distinctly Infinite and light like summer, but has that power-pop style. It’s light but not cute aegyo, which is the kind of balance I like to see in k-pop.
And I’ll just fangirl here for a moment- Sungyeol actually has a good amount of screen time and has a decent line! No more of that “Do you hear me?” still so bitter about that He’s really growing as a singer though. I’m so happy Woollim is using him a little more now because he really does have a good voice, he just needs to realise that. But it is pretty easy to be overshadowed by Woohyun and Sunggyu’s power voices… Of which they did great in the song too! Myungsoo and Sungjong impressed me as well, and I don’t have to say anything for Dongwoo and Hoya’s raps. Dongwoo always has this natural bang bang bang rap and Hoya’s is almost singing rapping haha I like how their styles are different.
The lyrics are the cutest thing ever and just made me smile while I followed along. I watched it within minutes of its release, and it just made my night haha. The chorus and Sungyeol’s line was my favourite part of the song. I can’t really explain why I like it so much, it reminds me of something, but not at the same time. It’s so catchy though and I’ve been listening to ‘Man in Love’, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, and ‘60 Seconds (Infinite version)’ constantly. This song just makes me insanely happy, like I’m just smiling the entire time.

The dance is still so Infinite even though it isn’t an intense song. I like the signature hand sliding and the footwork that screams “This is an Infinite song and dance.” That’s one thing I like about Infinite- they can have all their dances be similar but feel like it’s the first time you’ve seen something like it, be complicated, execute it together with robotic precision, and still have personality in it.
The music video fit the lyrics and the music so perfectly. One- the kitten Sungjong consults his outfit choices with is Woollim’s CEO’s cat named Woollimy. He has a twitter too! So cute… L with the physics book… Can he help me with my physics please? Woohyun with the piano playing is so adorkable, Sunggyu’s romantic dinner is sweet, Dongwoo’s cool hallway graffiti-ed with “Man in Love”, Hoya’s cute shopping trip, I like the part where Sungjong tosses his clothes down (don’t ask why I don’t know haha), and Sungyeol with the cooking… Ugh. Just a really cute music video. I think my favourite part though is L looking all happy with his phone, that’s the face of a man in love.

I’m so frustrated with that drama it’s unreal. Like, I know I should know getting into it because it’s a melodrama, but I have never seen people go out of their way to hurt themselves and others around them as much as I did in this. Like I kept looking at the screen and going “Why? Why was that necessary?” I couldn’t follow their line of thinking like… all the time.
The incest thing was kind of off-putting in the beginning, but I could work with it. Especially since Tae Hwa stopped it, and after that I liked him. He strangely became more attractive once he ditched the I’m-in-love-with-my-step-sister thing.
And I’ll say that out of every drama man ever, I want one as dedicated as Song Joo. I mean, he ran after a bus for like 5 minutes, runs all over the place, runs. And runs. The man doesn’t stop. That was great.
I don’t really have much else to say except that there was so much crying, I think if I were Jung Suh my sinuses would hurt, the step mother and step sister were the biggest bitches I’ve ever seen in a drama and I’ve seen a lot of dramas.

Kind of a lighter take on sasaeng fans, Heo Young Saeng comes back with ‘The Art of Seduction’ along with BB cream and blond hair haha.
Also with Epik High’s ‘Fan’ and countless news reports from DBSK to G-Dragon, it’s obvious sasaeng fans are a big issue, and not just in the k-pop industry as Alexander Rybak’s ‘Leave Me Alone’ shows. I love my biases, but I honestly can’t wrap my head around the idea of harassing them the way sasaengs do. Heo Young Saeng addresses them in a lighter light, almost making fun of them really, unlike Epik High did with ‘Fan’ where it was way more serious and heavy.
Heo Young Saeng has great vocals, so this song was done really well, probably would make it one of my favourites of the year. Coming back from ‘Crying’, he really shows how versatile his voice is by pulling off a slower pop ballad and then an upbeat almost retro-pop song. My favourite part is the “nai nai naida” and “oppaneun otte?” just because of how his voice sounds. It flows well without having a concrete chorus, just a good hook repeated throughout the song.
I love the dance, especially the “oppaneun otte?” parts. Even the verses are good. Even though he was the vocal in SS501, he’s still a great dancer solo. I kind of like the fact he has women as his back up dancers because 1. Makes him look like he’s a solo artist not part of a group and 2. It makes him look more mature. I’m not saying he hasn’t until now, but I always think that when an adult k-pop idol has back up dancers with the opposite sex, it’s kind of step up from being underaged. I don’t know, it just looks good to me.

Heo Young Saeng doesn’t look bad with the orange and white, but that BB cream. Oh darling. Yes, I’m sure it matched your skin tone when you put it on, but under lights… BB cream relfects. And it reflected a lot. But besides the white face and neck that doesn’t match the rest of him well, his eyeliner looked good? I didn’t know how I’d like the blond and it doesn’t look too bad actually. And am I the only one happy they coordinated orange with blue? Colour wheel everyone. It’s important haha. I love how in the fantasy parts of the video he’s got sunglasses and does that lip biting thing… The art of seduction, right? Haha.
Bascially in the music video, the sasaeng looks like a stereotypical obsessed fan- messy hair, glasses, drawing fan art with loud pencil, reaching out at the TV screens and fangirling to the ground (not to mention pictures of him from his ‘Crying’ video are hanging around creepily). She wakes up thinking Young Saeng’s dropped by to spend eternity with her. Nope. While she makes dinner, she sets down a milk carton with his picture on the back saying “WANTED”. She’s got Young Saeng tied up forcing him to eat dinner with her (she thinks they’re having a romantic dinner), tying him up in the pantry (she thinks he’s coming out of the pantry to give her flowers), and other various creepy activities. She’s finally caught and while getting her picture taken at the police station, thinks one of the police officers are Young Saeng taking picutres with her. And to let you know, the handsome police officer (not the one making fun of her) is Seo Ji Suk!

It’s nice to see HyunA and her back up dancers 4Minute in their old stuff with equal lines, equal camera time… Throwbacks are always fun. Especially when Jungshin is part of it hehe.
The song is really catchy and I like listening to it even though I’m not really a girl group fan. ”Let’s have a heart to heart to heart (talk!)” The beat is fast and I really do like 4Minute’s vocals. HyunA’s rap isn’t bad actually. I usually complain about the raps in girl groups because most of them can’t rap, but HyunA’s rap fit the song well. The lyrics are really pushy haha but having a heart to heart talk is always the best thing to do in relationships…
This video is one of those videos you always go back to for cheesy harmless girlfriend revenge. Although 4Minute’s going about revenge and even the motive is really weird haha. The video begins with Jungshin giving in to HyunA’s aegyo (I have never heard aegyo like it) and massaging her shoulders, but later he wants nothing to do with her. Probably her aegyo was getting to him… Later at the club, 4Minute brings HyunA’s attention to Jungshin talking to another girl. Well this doesn’t fly with her, so she and 4Minute plot against Jungshin.

First, they spray his sandwiches with poison stuff that makes it rock hard. But really, I would’ve known something was wrong with my sandwich if I touched it and it felt… Not breadish. Then they switch his shaving cream with whipping cream, in which I don’t understand why Jungshin needed to shave right then because he has such a smooth face. They put something in his toothpaste (complete with the best evil smile and fist pump ever), make his car break down in the parking lot (how did he not see/hear them celebrating), tamper with his chair, and send him lingerie at work.
The grand finale is Jungshin checks the couch before he sits on it (he knows what’s up) and thinks he’s safe- uh nope, a spider falls right in front of him and the guy… passes out. Hahahaha oh my gosh. 4Minute takes his photo, photoshops him on a building, and attempts to arrest him at the club using the photoshop as evidence. Why he thinks they’re real police officers, I don’t know, but all ends well when he surprises HyunA in a box and they have wine together. So all of that harassment was because he wouldn’t give her a massage. What did you get yourself into, Jungshin?
